The S word

I had a classic moment with Maddox this week. He was telling me about a kid in his class that swears. I asked him what words this kid says. Maddox shyly responded "the s word". I had a hunch, so I asked "does this S word end in ut- up?" Maddox confirmed my hunch. I explained that shut up isn't a nice thing to say, but that it isn't a swear word. He wanted to know what real swear words are. I wouldn't tell him. But then he remembered that his dad says a swear word. " the D word"! Good thing he didn't remember that his mom used to, on occasion, say the D word:)
